The Tory Attack Ad Labour Tried to Ban

This Tory attack ad featuring old footage of the two Eds in the Treasury has been pulled from YouTube. It features footage from the documentary ‘We are the Treasury’, which was broadcast in 1997 and traced the early day of McMental’s stewardship of the economy. The documentary surfaced recently on the Telegraph website featuring footage of Ed Balls smoking and spinning while Ed Miliband gurned like an amphetamine fuelled hippo.

When Panorama tried to use the clips in 2007, they were met with the full might of McBride’s Treasury spin team, as detailed here.

Guido understands that STV have come under intense pressure from ‘a third party’- believed to be Labour – to have the footage scrubbed from the internet. This is now the only place you can see it…

Microsoft Shakes Down Public Sector for Dosh

Microsoft Shakes Down Public Sector for Dosh
by technoguido

Large software providers such as Microsoft and Oracle are stepping up their “audit review” raids on public sector customers, propping up their dwindling licensing sales with fines for licencing agreement non-compliance. According to a report by Cerno, 39% of local authorities have been subjected to review in the the last 20 months, with 60% of them forced to cough up heavy penalties. Paid for out of public funds.

Some public sector organisations are starting to see the benefit of moving away from expensive propriety IT solutions, with their moves to open source and in-house solutions forcing big software companies to find other ways of squeezing them for cash. The user rights of public sector IT contracts are extremely complex and often misunderstood, leaving the door open for software companies to swoop in and levy fines for arrears in license fees and support.

Is the software mafia’s grip beginning to slip?

Urgg – do the little people really eat this muck

Ed Brought to ‘Heal’
by technoguido

Despite Ed’s heavy coaching ahead of last nights debate, he still didn’t have a decent answer to the brother bother. Asked about division in the Miliband family, Ed rather optimistically claimed the rift with David was “healed,” before, realising how implausible that sounded, quickly changed that to “healing”. Kay Burley had the most memorable moment of the night with her ‘your poor mum’:

Perhaps Ed should have spent a little less time practicing saying ‘hell yeah’ on Skype to Axelrod and a little more time working out a plausible explanation for breaking his mother’s heart…

The LibDem candidate fighting Gloria de Piero in Ashfield and Eastwood has quit after been arrested over historic allegations of child sex abuse. Jason Zadrozny is accused of:

“an allegation of buggery and gross indecency with a male under 16 between September 2003 and April 2004, sexual activity with a child between May 2004 and December 2007 and an allegation of meeting a child under 16 following sexual grooming from May 2004 and December 2007”

Yello’, Yello’, Yello’: Cops Called Over LibDem Sleaze
by WikiGuido

The Metropolitan Police are investigating the LibDems after their former chief fundraiser Ibrahim Taguri was filmed telling an undercover ‘donor’ “when you do this, the doors will open for you”. The Electoral Commission says they have passed on the evidence from the Telegraph/Dispatches sting to the fuzz:

“Based on the information that the Commission has seen, the alleged offence in this case centres on the potential evasion of restrictions on donations in contravention of section 61 of PPERA and is ultimately a criminal matter. As a result, the Commission has also passed the information that it has received to MPS who are aware of the allegations and are considering them…. Any decisions about what further steps to take at this stage in relation to potential evasion of restrictions on donations in either case rest with the Metropolitan Police Service.”

Will they be interviewing the Deputy Prime Minister?

An Honourable Speaker Would Do the Decent Thing…
by Guido Fawkes

house-divided
If a Speaker loses the support of almost half the House he can’t really do his job. This vote was a proxy confidence vote, he avoided losing by a margin of just 3%. A more honourable Speaker would take the hint and stand down…
