Press Release 06/12/2016 Embassy of the Kingdom of Bahrain Welcomes Visit by Prime Minister Theresa May PR-06-12-16-001 06 December 2016, Manama: The Embassy of the Kingdom of Bahrain welcomes the two day visit to Bahrain by United Kingdom Prime Minister the Rt. Hon. Theresa May, MP. The UK Prime Minister will attend two summits while in Manama: the annual Summit of the Gulf Cooperation Council and a GCC-UK summit, in which the focus will be on furthering the relationships between the UK and all member states of the GCC. Mrs. May will become the first British Prime Minister, and the first woman leader, to attend a GCC Summit, and her participation reflects the clear desire on both sides to strengthen their mutual cooperation and friendship. As part of this process, the two sides are to establish a GCC-UK Partnership, which will meet annually to assess and explore avenues to strengthen and expand their ties. The Prime Minister’s visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain, her first official visit to the region, underlines the closeness of the bilateral friendship between the two countries, in the year when they celebrate two hundred years of this relationship. Moreover, during the Prime Minister’s visit, the two countries will have the opportunity to review and underline their deep, longstanding and valuable ties, whether in the defence, counter-terrorism, commercial or investment fields, and to reaffirm the UK’s important practical support for Bahrain’s ongoing reform process. The visit also presents the opportunity to expand trade ties between the GCC and the UK. As it stands now, the GCC market is the largest investor in the UK and the second largest non-EU export market. This is of particular interest post-BREXIT, as it will help to insure future prosperity for the United Kingdom and GCC countries. The Embassy looks forward to continuing to deepen and develop the Kingdom of Bahrain’s historic friendship with the United Kingdom, and to further expanding the partnership between the UK and the GCC in the years ahead.

A comprehensive account of the life of R C Sherriff, junior officer
and famous writer. One of the WWI survivors who made a lucrative
career as a novelist, playwright and screenwriter. His movie work is
still very well known but not the man. This book provides a full
picture – great read.
