|Today, April 12th was poised for a WTO No Deal Brexit Day as the PM had failed to ratify her Withdrawal Agreement and the cross-party talks with Labour have proved unsuccessful so far. Theresa May asked the EU for a Brexit extension until June 30th, but the EU would only grant an extension to October 31st, as they don’t trust her to deliver on the Deal anytime soon! So, Halloween is therefore the new Brexit date and it is reasonable to say it most likely be a trick, not a treat.
The latest ridiculous extension to Article 50 has been termed a “flextension”, meaning we could leave the EU before October 31st if a Deal is agreed. In this case, we would leave on the first day of the following calendar month. However, this would still mean a deal must be passed, and the EU are intransigent the Withdrawal Agreement will not be reopened.
The fact this extension can be forced upon us by the European Council with no say from the UK Parliament, is an example of the very reasons we must Leave the EU as soon as possible. Theresa May had no power in these negotiations simply because she handled them badly. It seems she simply dotes on the EU, agreeing to their every demand. This country deserves a real Leader, who will fight for our sovereignty and independence.
Why on earth has the PM not been stronger on the United Kingdom’s behalf? By mishandling the negotiations from the very beginning, and not putting strong experienced pro-Leave negotiators and high-profile Brexit Ministers fronting the negotiations from the start instead of minimising their contributions, Theresa May has risked making us the laughing stock of the world.
Theresa May, a closet Remainer during the Referendum, intent on attempting to carve a legacy, placed herself and her Remainiac-in-chief Olly Robbins in charge of our future. How ridiculous was that?
May clearly undermined two excellent Brexit Secretaries, David Davis and Dominic Raab; introduced the controversial idea of the Irish Backstop herself over in Brussels, threatening a hard border in Ireland and risking the Good Friday Agreement; and has allowed us to be constantly embarrassed by unelected Eurocrats over in Brussels with her Brexit Begging Bowl. It seems the European Commission and many of the 27 Member States are only now realising how much damage a No Deal Brexit could do to the EU! Wouldn’t this be the perfect opportunity to stress we will walk away with No Deal on World Trade Organisation terms, so the EU brings their own begging bowl to the United Kingdom?
Oh – I forgot. Our majority Remain Parliamentarians have rushed through primary legislation this week, controlled by Remain MPs via Labour’s Yvette Cooper and Sir Oliver Letwin, taking control of Parliament in an attempt stop No Deal and thwart Brexit. This is unbelievable, if it isn’t so tragic for our country.
This week also saw the launch of the Brexit Party, led by Nigel Farage who has said he intends to “put the fear of God into our MPs”. He is backed Annunziata Rees-Mogg, the sister of prominent Brexiteer Jacob Rees-Mogg MP. Annunziata is now a candidate for the Brexit Party in the European Elections – if we do not Get Britain Out of the EU before then.
Piers Morgan is being encouraged to stand in the European Elections by various Brexit groups. The television presenter would certainly bring another boisterous voice to the European Parliament. Certainly, the establishment parties face a very strong challenge at the upcoming elections.
Following the extension of Brexit until October 31st, Civil Servants have now been told to stand down from No Deal preparations with immediate effect! This shows plainly and clearly, the PM and the Chancellor have abandoned any semblance of a commitment to No Deal. In total £4.2 billion has been spent so far on No Deal preparations. Money which Theresa May decided to spend despite never seriously considering No Deal. This has all been focused around misleading the Great British Public into thinking she believed in Brexit. If only the Prime Minister had an inkling of the strengths of an independent United Kingdom, and the true weaknesses of the EU!
Theresa May will no doubt try and con the British people by luring us into a Customs Union with Labour, with political jargon and sleight of hand. This week, as MPs go on their Easter recess and campaign in the local elections, please make sure you question all the activists who come knocking on your door. Hold them to account on whether the representative they want you to vote for is a true Brexiteer or a Remainer. Ensure they know the benefits of No Deal on WTO terms and the betrayals of May’s Deal. Print out and give them our leaflet on the failures of May’s Deal, which you can find here.
Now is the time for more action – please! It is vital for you to continue to contact your MPs especially as they will be in their constituencies now over the Easter break. It is vital your voice is heard. They are your elected representatives.
We have another sample letter here for you to send to your own MP, of whichever political party, and a letter specific to Labour MPs here. All you need to do is print them out, add your contact details and the details we have indicated, and send them. Or you can cut and paste them into a fresh document to amend, and please remember, you must include your address, as it confirms you live in their Constituency and they are your MP. You can find out who your MP is and how to contact them here.
We also have an updated letter for you to send to the Prime Minister which you can find here. Address it to ‘The Prime Minister, Theresa May, House of Commons, London, SW1A 0AA’ and/or her Parliamentary email address: email@example.com. In the latter case, make sure you use an attention-grabbing subject-line to give it the best chance of being read.
Good luck. This is really important, and please let us know you get on: email firstname.lastname@example.org.
