According to the Attorney General Osama al-Awfi, the accused were found guilty of spying for adjoining Qatar and committing acts of aggression against the Kingdom of Bahrain, harming the national interests, and securing delicate information which could have damaged the security and safety of the nation.
The accused were found to have conversed with officials in the Qatari government in 2011 in order to extend the period of turmoil in the nation, that lead to the increase in crime, destruction, and assault.
The prosecutor added that it was an explicit assault on a constitutional order in the nation, while the accused divulged sensitive data to the Qatari governments. Moreover, the court also came to know that the Qatari owned news agency, were used to heighten the news of turbulence in the kingdom and the Qatari government had complete knowledge about the matter.
The court declared that the Qatari government had direct knowledge of the case through its handling of its intelligence operation that was being led by former Emir of Qatar Hamad bin Jassim, chairman of Al Jazeera network Hamad bin Thamer al-Thani, and former advisor to the Emir Hamad bin Khalifa al-Attiyah.
