The River Thames
Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Pageant
Sunday 3rd June 2012
The River Thames Diamond Jubilee Pageant celebrates Her Majesty’s sixty years of service by bringing the Thames to life. In a unique once-in-a-lifetime experience, the river will be joyously full with boats, resounding with clanging bells, tooting horns and sounding whistles recalling both its royal heritage and its heyday as a working, bustling river.
Downriver of London Bridge, there will be a gun salute and you’ll see the flotilla pass through a spectacular avenue made by traditional Thames sailing boats, oyster smacks, square-riggers, naval vessels and other impressive ships in a magnificent celebration of the Queen’s Jubilee.
Rather than cruising (bear in mind if you were cruising, you’d only see the boats around you), the MV Dutch Master; capacity 350, will be moored (static) in the upper London Pool near Tower Bridge (by the end of the planned sailing route). Hence, you’ll enjoy a grandstand view of all the boats passing by and in anticipation for the proposed gun salute.
The boat has large outside areas, ideal for enjoying all the hospitality and hopefully some sunshine too! And not forgetting the anticipated excitement and atmosphere created by the flag waiving hundreds of thousands lining the banks of the Thames!
