The Senate got it right when they confirmed Mike Pompeo, but they have a long way to go with other nominees, and other things you need to know

The Senate confirmed CIA chief Mike Pompeo as President Trump’s next secretary of state this week. Tea Party Patriots Citizens Fund Chairman Jenny Beth Martin released the following statement in response to Pompeo’s confirmation:

“Tea Party Patriots Citizens Fund thanks the United States Senate for doing the right thing and voting to confirm Mike Pompeo as our next Secretary of State. Mike Pompeo clearly has the trust of President Trump and has done an outstanding job as CIA Director. He is already working with President Trump on highly sensitive negotiations with North Korea and shares the President’s belief that former President Obama’s nuclear deal with Iran is a terrible deal and harmful to our national security. We look forward to working with Secretary Pompeo and believe he will support President Trump’s stated view that we must end the Iran nuclear deal as a matter of national security.”

Check out what you did to help support Mike Pompeo’s confirmation as Secretary of State.

The Senate also approved Kyle Duncan to the U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals this week after months of the Senate stalling his confirmation. Itrsquo;s been a long journey to get Kyle Duncan and Mike Pompeo into the positions that they are well-qualified for and we are pleased that the Senate made the right decision. There is, however, a lot more work to be done in the Senate.

There are still hundreds of President Trump’s judicial nominees that still need to be confirmed. Trump’s nominees waiting to be confirmed are victims of liberal senators who have used Senate rules to create gridlock and bottleneck the process. In recent times, the rules of the Senate have been used not to better inform debate, or more constructively to fashion legislation, but instead merely to obstruct a legislative agenda opposed by the minority. That’s why Senator James Lanford (R-Okla.) has been pushing a Gridlock Reform proposal to stop Democrats’ abuse of Senate rules to obstruct President Trump’s nominees.

Tea Party Patriots Citizens Fund Chairman Jenny Beth Martin released the following statement reacting to the Senate Rules Committee vote to pass Senator Lankford’s  proposal:

“Americans are sick and tired of Senate Democrats abusing the rules of the Senate to create gridlock and unnecessarily stall President Trump’s well qualified judicial and executive branch nominees. The partisan games must end and that is why Senator James Lankford is working to pass rule changes that will put an end to Democrats’ partisan and harmful scheme to obstruct the confirmation of President Trump’s well-qualified nominees. We applaud the Senate Rules Committee for passing Senator Lankford’s Gridlock Reform proposal and call on the full Senate to stop obstructing these nominees and ensure the rules can no longer be abused by a partisan minority.”

It’s time for the rules to change and to restore the Senate’s reputation of being a place of great debate. Sign the petition to urge the Senate to update its antiquated debate rules, which liberals have abused to obstruct the confirmation of President Trump’s judicial nominees.

Stand for the Second - May 2nd

More and more, Second Amendment supporters are unable to voice their beliefs at fear of being harassed. That’s why Tea Party Patriots Citizens Fund stands by pro-Second Amendment students on May 2nd. Stand for the Second is a student-led, student-driven movement organizing walkouts at high schools across America on May 2, 2018, to stand for the Second Amendment.
