The State of our Union is…

Tonight is the State of the Union, and we want to be sure Congress hears from us about President Trump’s accomplishments, and his plans to enhance border security.

The State of the Union is a time-honored tradition rooted in the Constitution and reflective of our nation’s separation of powers. The Constitution stipulates in Article II, Section 3, Clause 1 that the president ”shall from time to time give to the Congress Information of the State of the Union, and recommend to their Consideration such measures as he shall judge necessary and expedient.”

Although the Constitution is silent on whether or not this information should be given in person or in writing, the tradition of the president delivering a formal speech to Congress dates back to January 8, 1790, when President George Washington addressed the Congress in the Senate chamber in New York City (then the capital of our new nation). President Jefferson chose to deliver his State of the Union address in writing, and that tradition lasted a century until President Woodrow Wilson returned to the in-person format that Presidents Washington and Adams had used. Since then, the State of the Union has been delivered annually before Congress.

The State of the Union is a critically important opportunity for Congress and the American people to hear from the president about the state of our nation – the successes, where we must improve, and plans for the future.

President Trump has already accomplished so many of the promises he made to the American people on the campaign trail – including his promise to nominate men and women to the Supreme Court and lower courts who steadfastly adhere to the Constitution. Tonight is an opportunity for the American people to hear his plans for 2019 and beyond, and for us to weigh in and give feedback to Congress.

Please join us in taking the following actions this week.

  1. Watch the State of the Union tonight at 9pm ET.
  • All major networks will be airing it (ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC).
  • It will be available to watch on cable news channels (FOX News, Fox Business, CNN, MSNBC).
  • Even social media networks will be broadcasting the address (Facebook, Youtube, Twitter).

Be sure to include the Twitter handle for your U.S. representative. Be sure to include @TPPatriots and hashtag #SOTU in your tweets.
  1. Tomorrow, please call and email Congress to ask your representative and two U.S. senators to support President Trump’s agenda, especially in the area of building a wall at the southern border and enhancing border security.

It looks like we do not have your address in our system, and therefore, cannot locate the senators that represent your state.
