White House Proposal means illegal immigrants get a free pass while hard-working Americans suffe

Senate Democrats recently forced a short-lived shutdown of the U.S. government because of their demands for amnesty for illegal immigrants who were brought to this country as minors. Americans have been outspoken about our desire for border security and the enforcement of our immigration laws before any discussion of amnesty takes place. The White House has now put forward an immigration proposal that defies everything we, the grassroots conservatives, want to see.

Over the weekend, we conducted a massive survey of our supporters. If you have not taken the survey yet, you may do so here. Your thoughts and feedback are extremely important, and it is not too late to complete the survey.

Based on the comments we have already received, the overwhelming majority of our supporters are disappointed by the White House’s amnesty proposal. The plan is deeply flawed. NumbersUSA, one of the premier rule-of-law non-profits opposed to amnesty, has come out against the proposal. NumbersUSA writes: “Under the White House framework, young-adult illegal border crossers and visa overstayers would get immediate benefits, including, most importantly, the right to compete with Americans in the permanent job market. But vulnerable American workers would get little or no relief from the competition of chain migration for 15 to 20 years. Even if new applications for chain migration categories are stopped immediately, the framework would allow chain migration to continue for decades by allowing all of the four million foreigners in the waiting list to continue coming.”

Senator Ted Cruz has also been strongly critical of the amnesty proposal, and he has correctly stated that this proposal represents a significant broken promise.

2. Call both of your Senators’ offices and your U.S. Representative’s office. We have talking points below for your conversations with Members of Congress.

It looks like we do not have your address in our system, and therefore, cannot locate the members of Congress that represent your state and district. Please Update Your Profile to have this key information provided in the future. In the meantime, visit our Find Your Members of Congress area to locate this contact information, or call the Capitol Switchboard at 202-224-3121 to be transferred to each office. (NOTE: You will need to call the Capitol Switchboard each time to be transferred.)

3. Use social media to help inform others about the dangerous details of this amnesty proposal. Sample tweets are listed below.

  • The American people want a secure border and an “America first” immigration policy, and we want our nation’s immigration laws respected.
  • Congress must stand up for the rule of law and say NO to amnesty for illegal immigrants.
  • Americans want an end to chain migration. This policy is out of touch with our nation’s immigration needs.
  • E-Verify is a simple tool that helps employers determine if a prospective employee is in the country legally. Mandatory use of E-Verify would go a long way to curbing illegal immigration in this country.
  • The White House’s proposal is deeply flawed. At a minimum, Americans want to see stronger assurances that our nation is prioritizing border security – not amnesty. This proposal is amnesty first, not border security first.
  • For too long, Americans have been promised a border wall, but we have made concessions along the way, including past amnesties, without ever getting the wall completed. It is time for us to get serious about securing the border.
  • The White House proposal makes a grave mistake by increasing the number of beneficiaries of this amnesty from the original 690,000 DACA recipients to an incredible 1.8 million (and likely more!) illegal immigrants.
