Flying Officer Wales, a Sea King co-pilot flying SAR missions out of RAF Valley, is due to be detached to the Free Falkland Islands to complete his training to qualify as a Sea King captain. This detachment will be thirty years since his uncle HRH The Duke of York was flying Sea Kings as Exocet missile decoys to protect RN ships landing troops to liberate the Falkland Islands from a bunch of Argentine bandits and scrap dealers who thought they could occupy this group of islands in the South Atlantic.

Since that time Britain has maintained a modest garrison at the request of the Falkland Islanders to protect them from any future attempts by criminals to interfere with the liberty of the islanders and the theft of their property.
