Democrats haven’t always backed legalizing illegal immigrants, a lesson in viewpoint discrimination, and other things you need to know

Have you noticed that Democrats have done a complete 180 on illegal immigration and border security in the past few years? A lot of people don’t remember but back in 2006, Senate Democrat leaders voted to strengthen borders. They had to, in order to ensure a smooth presidential campaign for then-candidate Barack Obama. But that was then, and this is now.

“Here’s the terrible secret about the Democrats’ switch – in going all-in for legalizing illegal immigrants and eliminating the federal law enforcement authority responsible for removing those who have violated our laws: they have betrayed their own lower-income and working class constituents,” Tea Party Patriots Citizens Fund Chairman Jenny Beth Martin wrote in her FoxNews op-ed. “Do lower-income U.S. citizens benefit when the terrible schools they’re forced to send their children to see class sizes swell with non-English speaking students? Do working class U.S. citizens benefit when their jobs are taken by illegal immigrants willing to work off the books at far lower costs to their employers? Are any of them benefited when social services must be rationed to accommodate the new illegal immigrant recipients?”

It’s no wonder the #WalkAway movement is building momentum and many Democrats are leaving the party because of how radical it has become. The Democrats’ decision to make a switch and to go all-in for legalizing immigrants and eliminating the federal law enforcement authority responsible for keeping our children safe and removing those who have violated our laws, is the ultimate betrayal of their constituents. Is it worth sacrificing your children’s safety, American jobs, and rationed social services? Time will tell, and the next elections will tell us whether it was all worth it.

Over the past decade, several media companies, including AT&T, Comcast, Time Warner Cable, Time Warner and NBC Universal, have merged or attempted to merge. In almost every case, the DOJ and FCC have either stopped these deals, raised concerns about the competitive harm they would cause, or taken steps to ensure these transactions did not violate antitrust laws.

While it is very much the view of our organization that government intervention in the economy should be limited, what troubles us is the reality that increased consolidation in media will lead to diminished points of view. Whether conveyed by news channels, entertainment channels or otherwise, with the same companies owning both distribution platforms and the programming comes less varied opinions made available to the public—paving the way for one party rule. This trend should raise the ire of any citizen interested in protecting the First Amendment.

Tea Party Patriots Action believes these mergers limit the ability of diverse voices to reach the public and new platforms to compete. It is clear Big Media companies are only looking to grow bigger and gain greater control in the market—and should they be successful in expanding their reach, they would own even more news and entertainment programming, giving them the opportunity to muscle out competition and prioritize their programming and harm consumers.

Take a moment to sign our new petition on viewpoint discrimination. Help us send a loud message to Congress that we believe too much power in the hands of giant media conglomerates is not in our nation’s best interest.

In an article in National Review, Campaign Finance Expert Attorney, Cleta Mitchell questioned whether the Mueller investigation is a fair investigation or a partisan witch hunt. She makes a strong case for why it’s the latter and what should be done to correct it. Please join use and tweet about this article to bring awareness to this discrepancy.

Arguments for Judge Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation to the U.S. Supreme Court are happening in less than two weeks! Senate Democrats have been strategizing ways to gridlock the confirmation process, but it’s not the first time they have tried to stall the process of one of Trump’s well-qualified judges.

“Liberal Democrats don’t need more time to review Judge Kavanaugh’s record, they just don’t like the fact that his record shows he is fair, independent and adheres to the Constitution, so they are now resorting to obstruction and gridlock to extend their fishing expedition,” Jenny Beth Martin said in a statement. “The Democrats’ complaints ring hollow given how they’ve obstructed virtually every effort to effectively govern since President Trump took office.”

The Senate Democrats actions are a disgrace and an abuse of the system meant to create a fair and logical debate. Add your signature to our petition supporting Judge Kavanaugh and urging Senate Democrats to have a fair debate for a judge who’s record shows he belongs on the bench.

Hearings will start on September 4 and we hope you will show your support for Judge Kavanaugh by attending the hearings. If you live in the Washington, D.C. area and are available to attend the hearings for Judge Kavanaugh, please sign up here. If you can’t attend, add your signature to our petition supporting Judge Kavanaugh and urging Senate Democrats to have a fair debate for a judge who’s record shows he belongs on the bench. Share the petition with your friends and be sure to share your support on social media. We would like to be there in full force to show our support for President Trump’s excellent choice to the Supreme Court.

Tea Party Patriots Action is hosting another premiere of INVALIDATED: The Shredding of the U.S. Patent System on Tuesday, August 28, in Dallas, TX.

This award-winning documentary follows the story of Josh Malone and his battle to protect his invention “Bunch O Balloons.” Invalidated reveals how America’s current patent system is failing. Today’s Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) system makes it easier and cheaper for large companies to simply infringe patents rather than pay legitimate patent-holders for the use of their inventions.

The United States once led the world in new medications, new technology, and new ideas. American inventors and their inventions touched the lives of people in every country, of every race and every language. But our weakening Patent system is invalidating their property rights – and with it, their incentive to create. Building something and owning it is the American Dream, but without a strong patent system, the American Dream will be invalidated!

Please consider attending on August 28. Learn more about the event and how to RSVP. We hope to see you there!
