Thieves have targeted a mobile lifeguard unit (MLU) provided for the Royal National Lifeboat Institution’s lifeguard service at Roker beach in Sunderland.

The MLU had only been sited on Marine Walk for three days when the thieves struck on Saturday night, removing a single solar panel, worth around £700 from the roof of the unit.
